AS 9100 Quality Certification renewed
As a result of a recent audit at both our West Street and Kiln Acre sites, our Aerospace AS9100 quality certification has been renewed. The audits were carried out by Lloyds Register Quality Assurance Ltd.
AS9100 is the US version of a globally harmonized quality management system standard. AS9100 is based upon and supplements ISO 9001:2000, focusing upon the unique, complex, and highly regulated nature of the aerospace industry. Specifically, it emphasizes the critical aspects of key characteristics and the need to satisfy internal, governmental and regulatory requirements.
The global nature of the AS9100 standard means that our customers can rely on its acceptance by their customers, wherever they are based.
In addition to the above audit, our Quality System is regularly audited by our customers’ quality teams, essential to maintaining our ‘direct to line’ quality approvals.
We are also fully committed to continuous improvement and work closely with our customers to ensure their complete satisfaction.
Another 5-axis Machining Centre
We have now placed an order for our fifth 5-axis Machining Centre, due for delivery in December 2008. The Mazak Variaxis 630-5X II is a multi-surface, 5-axis simultaneously controlled Vertical Machining Centre. It has a rapid traverse rate of up to 52 metres per minute and can handle work pieces of up to 730mm x 500mm in size.
This additional investment will provide a significant increase in capacity, thereby enabling us to handle a greater volume of work, whilst maintaining our excellent turnaround times and on-time delivery record.
Additional staff planned for 2008
We have taken a decision to increase our workforce during 2008 to enable us to maintain our service standards and delivery timescales for the additional business we will be undertaking. In particular, we will be looking for experienced CNC machinists who have been working in an aerospace, or similar quality environment.
Additional work for Boeing 787
We are pleased to announce that we have recently been awarded a further significant contract to provide precision engineered components for use in the landing gear of Boeing’s new ‘Dreamliner’, the 787. This is in addition to the work we have been doing on this project and confirms the confidence our customer has in our ability to deliver exceptional quality, on time.
Order placed for New Machining Centre
We have placed an order for a further Mazak Machining Centre. It is a Mazak VMC MTV-655/60N with Mazatrol Fusion 640M Control With 4th Axis, Renishaw Probing & 60 Tool Carousel. Capacity 1500,00mm x 650,00mm x 740,00mm Z Axis.
We have made this decision to increase capacity in light of recent orders and to meet the planned requirements of our partner customers. This centre complements what we have and will enable us to meet the increasing demand for machining larger components.
Order placed to upgrade Aberlink Axiom CMM for Quality Assurance
In view of our increasing order book, we have decided to further increase our productivity to enable us to provide an even more cost-effective service for our customers. We are upgrading our Aberlink Axiom CMM to CNC for unmanned operation.
